Tiny daily actions for a global change

Autor: Ronald González

We have all heard the news about climate change and its effects all over the planet. Many actions have been promoted by the public and private sector in local, national and regional communities. Now the world's population is more aware of this shared challenge.

Families on a day-to-day basis play a crucial role in this common theme, although not all of us are clear about how we can support this titanic mission. Thus, we have summarized 10 daily actions that each one can appropriate to reduce our carbon footprint:

  • Consume local and seasonal products and prioritize the consumption of fish (always from sustainable fishing)

  • Carry reusable shopping bags with you and avoid using plastic containers

  • Make sure you buy only what you need, to avoid waste and always recycle

  • Try to trade, borrow, rent, or buy second-hand

  • Buy responsibly from companies with sustainable practices (recycled material, ecolabel, fair market)

  • Prioritize the use of bicycles and public transport and drive intelligently avoiding unnecessary consumption of gasoline

  • Take short showers and turn off the water while brushing your teeth or washing dishes.

  • Unplug your electronic equipment and do not leave your phone charging when the battery is already full

  • Don't store unnecessary data in the cloud. The fingerprint is a real problem in our current model of digital consumption

  • Select energy efficient products and turn the heat down 1 °

  • These simple actions help reduce our carbon footprint and are key to ensuring a healthy environment for all of us. We invite you to appropriate and share them with your contacts.
